About Three H

Three H is a leading manufacturer of commercial office furniture specializing in laminate. Three H partners with manufacturers' sales representatives and dealers across North America to create spaces where people feel they belong.

We're a growing company with Northern roots, and we care as much about how we treat people as about what we make. This role sits right at the heart of that promise: it's where raw panels are cut, machined, and finished into the components that become our furniture.

The Opportunity

The Machine Operator operates equipment that turns raw panel stock into finished furniture components, from cutting sheets to size through CNC machining and edgebanding. Each part needs to be cut, machined, and finished accurately, in the right sequence, so it arrives at the next station ready to go.

Working with the Machining Supervisor, fellow operators, tally persons, assembly team members and the product engineering team, the Machine Operator retrieves and runs programs from product labels, performs routine setup and tooling changes, meets production volume and quality standards, and keeps the work area safe and organized. Operators may be assigned to one machine or cross-trained across several based on production needs.

It's a role for someone who takes pride in precise, hands-on work, likes knowing how machines run, and wants to learn new equipment and skills over time.

What You’ll Do

Machine Operation & Sequencing

  • Operate assigned Machine End equipment, which may include beam and sliding table panel saws (e.g., Selco, Altendorf), CNC machining centres (e.g., Biesse Rover, EKO, Skipper), edgebanders, and other CNC and panel processing equipment as introduced.
  • Retrieve and run programs based on the information provided on the product label, and load cutting files and adjust patterns as needed.
  • Follow the sequence system to cut and machine parts in the correct order.
  • Set up stops, fences, and pads correctly to support components, prevent damage, and cut safely without binding.
  • Coordinate material sequence and sheet counts with warehouse personnel.
  • Run equipment manually when needed to produce emergency production parts and unusual pieces.
  • Meet daily production schedules and output targets while maintaining quality standards.

Quality & Finished Parts

  • Watch finished parts closely for changes in cut quality, edges, and corners, and make minor program or machine adjustments to achieve a clean, accurate finish.
  • Confirm that the correct material, edge colour, and finish are used for each job based on the label information.
  • Stack and pile finished parts safely, in the proper locations, and in order based on label information.
  • Identify salvageable material versus waste and keep offcut piles in good order.

Setup, Tooling & Maintenance

  • Clean equipment at regular intervals following the appropriate cleaning procedures.
  • Inform the Supervisor and/or Maintenance right away when non-routine maintenance or repairs are required.

Depending on the machine assigned, setup and tooling tasks may include:

  • Changing and calibrating saw blades to maintain accurate, clean cuts.
  • Changing drill bits and cutters and making tooling adjustments using the machine tooling software.
  • Changing edgebanding tape, adjusting feeds, and purging and reintroducing glue in the glue pot following procedure.

Teamwork & Training

  • Work with coworkers to keep production moving efficiently while meeting quality standards.
  • Mentor tally persons and helpers so they can perform simple procedures in the operator’s absence.
  • Cross-train on other Machine End equipment as production needs require.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing environment is preferred, ideally in furniture, millwork, cabinetry, or panel processing. On-the-job training is provided.
  • Experience with panel saws, CNC machining centres, or edgebanders is considered an asset.
  • Secondary school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is considered an asset.

What Helps You Succeed

  • Reads, writes, and communicates effectively in English, including reading product labels and work orders, and communicates clearly with coworkers and the Supervisor.
  • Comfortable with basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement.
  • Mechanically inclined, with an understanding of how machines, tooling, and materials work together.
  • Accurate and organized in work habits.
  • Comfortable using a machine touchscreen or computer to retrieve programs.
  • Willing to learn and adapt quickly to new machines and processes.
  • Arrives on time and ready to work for each scheduled shift.

Health & Safety

  • Follow all Three H health and safety policies and procedures, including lockout, machine safeguards, and required personal protective equipment (including CSA-approved steel-toe safety footwear at all times in the plant).
  • Report all incidents, accidents, injuries, near misses, and hazards to the Machining Supervisor right away.

Working Environment

  • Work is performed on the production floor.
  • Exposure to noise, wood dust, and hot and cold temperatures.
  • Standing and walking for most of the shift, with some sitting.
  • Regular pushing, pulling, and lifting of panels and components up to 60 lbs; team lifts are required above 60 lbs.
