About Keepers of the Circle
Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse peoples.
About the Role
The Client Support Coordinator is responsible for frontline case work and direct support to members experiencing or at risk of gender-based violence (GBV) or homelessness. This role includes case management, needs assessments, referrals, and ongoing support to ensure members can access appropriate resources.
Working within the Programs and Supports Department, the Client Support Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Housing Support Worker, Indigenous Family Support Workers, the Mino M’shki-ki Indigenous health team, and other local service providers to deliver wrap-around, culturally appropriate supports.
This position functions within a team construct that is inclusive of all community members. Relationships will be guided by the Wisdom Keepers Elders Council, the seven grandfather teachings and the medicine wheel. Confidentiality and a high degree of integrity, discretion, professionalism is essential to this position due to the exposure to confidential and/or sensitive information.
Roles and responsibilities include:
· Conduct intake, need assessments, and case management for victims and survivors of GBV, documenting service gaps.
· Develop and monitor individualized case plans, ensuring regular follow-up with clients.
· Provide confidential referrals to other service providers and follow up to confirm adequate support is received.
· Collaborate with the Housing Support Worker to provide housing resources and referrals.
· Coordinate services with other local service providers to ensure wrap-around support.
· Pick up and transport members to access resources at our hub or other community providers.
· Maintain accurate, confidential case management records in accordance with policy.
· Create and maintain a service map of GBV resources in the region.
· Facilitate or refer clients to culturally appropriate supports, including healing and sharing circles, land-based interventions, traditional medicines, and sacred ceremonies.
· Incorporate culturally rooted interventions to support Indigenous victims and survivors in their healing journey.
· Work with internal teams to coordinate services and manage resources.
· Perform other related duties as assigned to support Keepers of the Circle’s teams and members.
Requirements:
· Experience in Social work is considered an asset
· Excellent oral and written communication skills with a kind, approachable demeanor.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office.
· Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
· Professionalism, confidentiality, and a non-judgmental approach.
· Understanding and commitment to the protection of rights and issues related to GBV.
· Experience with or understanding of culturally appropriate healing supports and approaches
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.
· Ability to travel within the district
· Valid class G drivers Licence
This position is on a full-time basis and is based out of one of our offices located in Kirkland Lake or Temiskaming Shores.
